In several countries, it is common to discover that Cardio Pulmonary Recitation – CPR is not taught. Doctors, nurses, teachers, parents, friends and neighbors are unaware of CPR and its community benefit in saving lives.Prior to our 2008 trip, a generous donor purchased CPR manikins for the TienGiang Red Vietnam Red Cross, which opened the door for training. Excitement was in the air. With manikins in tow, they began their trip from Minneapolis, Chicago, Seoul, Saigon, and then into several regional TienGiang villages.
In teaching CPR in numerous countries, it is electrifying to sense the willingness to learn. Students anxiously listen, hoping to begin the learning process of the body’s basic needs – oxygen and circulation – “perfusion”. In total 72 students participated, with five individuals now certified in CPR instruction. Brian Tommerdahl
